Session: Digital Transformation in the World of Academic Publishing and Journals: Managing Royalties for Subscription Sales
Session Overview: Academic and scholarly publishers have seen a surge in digitization of content over the past decade. As readership becomes predominantly digital, publishers more and more are transitioning to a subscription-based model, where subscribers pay a recurring fee for access to information libraries featuring academic journals and research articles. To produce and curate high-quality products to engage readership and bolster a large subscription base, publishers must first gain a firm grasp on managing subscription rights and royalties for their products.
In this talk we will give publishers insight into the following topics:
- Rights management for selling content as a subscription
- Defining compensation models
- Determining how to manage subscription products
- Manage royalty accounting for subscriptions
- Producing royalty statements factoring in usage
