New Tool Helps Global Brands Prevent Costly Copyright Violations by Automatically Identifying Licensed Music in Video Content

New York, New York – October 22, 2024 – FADEL®, innovator of brand protection and rights management software, has launched a cutting-edge new feature within its Brand Vision – Content Tracking solution: AI-powered music identification. This new release allows brands to automatically detect licensed music embedded in videos within a company’s digital asset management (DAM) system before content goes live, helping protect against copyright infringement and safeguarding brand integrity. The technology will be showcased at DAM New York, Booth #35, on October 23-24, 2024.

“Our new music identification tool empowers brands to take control of their video assets by quickly identifying any licensed music,” said Gregg Guest, VP of Product Management – Cloud Solutions at FADEL. “It provides essential details like song title, artist, and label, and even pinpoints the exact moments in the video where the music appears. This level of transparency helps brands avoid copyright violations and stay in full compliance.”

With lawsuits on the rise from music giants such as Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group targeting brands for unauthorized music use, FADEL’s solution is a timely safeguard. While social media platforms may allow personal content to include licensed music, commercial use often requires separate licensing agreements, leaving brands exposed. This new feature helps brands navigate these challenges, reducing the risk of hefty fines, additional production costs, cumbersome takedowns, and reputational harm.

“Record labels are utilizing similar AI technology to find brands infringing on their music licenses,” said Tarek Fadel, CEO of FADEL. “Our tool gives content producers the ability to proactively identify and resolve licensing issues before they escalate into costly problems.”

The music identification feature will be made generally available starting October 28, 2024. Additionally, a January 2025 update will extend the tool’s reach to scan videos published across social media, e-commerce, and websites, providing brands with even broader protection.

Brands interested in the unveiling of this innovative music identification technology can save $100 on their DAM New York conference fee by using the code FADEL100 at registration. If you missed the show, schedule a demo of Brand Vision-Content Tracking.
